Workforce Development

Southwest CDC is developing a comprehensive approach to addressing unemployment in Southwest.  The reality is that Southwest had an unemployment rate close to 15% before the pandemic and many more people are newly unemployed as a result of the COVID-19 shutdown. By turning trades people into small businesspeople and providing quality employment training opportunities we will be contributing to the recovery and personal wealth building.

Southwest CDC, working with NCRC and its partners, will develop a training program and submit to SNAP/EBT and others for funding by the end of the first year. The sweat equity program will be up and running by the second half of the first year.
