Who We Are

Mission Statement

Southwest CDC improves the quality of life in Southwest Philadelphia.

Context

Since 1987, Southwest CDC strives to offer compassionate care to improve the quality of life for the people who come through our doors. We make a difference to more than 1,200 households each year.

Our Impact

We help families stay in their homes by preventing foreclosure and eviction. We help families become homeowners. We help keep families warm in winter by providing heating assistance programs. We help protect and educate children whose parents cannot afford childcare by providing free and enriching after school and summer programs. We provide support and share resources with neighborhood businesses. We organize neighbors to participate in the zoning decisions that impact the community. We publish the community newspaper to share the stories and information about the good, positive and optimistic happenings to counter the negative. We help break down barriers so that those who are able and want to work can find a job.
